This painting is my interpretation of the Genesis narrative. Although Scripture never specifies the fruit, artistic tradition has long rendered it as an apple. I was drawn to the tension created by placing Adam beside a standing Eve, alongside the presence of the serpent from whom she accepts the fruit. Their faces intensify the drama of the moment, suggesting resistance and unease. Eve’s temptation is more like an external force rather than an act of her own initiative, even though her acceptance of the fruit sets the tragic events in motion.
Through this composition, I aimed to evoke contradictory sensations. The vivid colors of the landscape stand in stark contrast to the more restrained and somber treatment of the figures, reinforcing the emotional and moral tension at the heart of the scene.
